Mac & Mallard was born from memory, craft, and a lifelong appreciation for making things with care.
“Mac” comes from my father, a quiet creative who found joy in painting, photography, and woodworking. He worked with his hands and his eye, never rushing the process, always attentive to detail. Those disciplines shaped how I see the world, and they continue to influence how I approach every piece created here. This studio is, in many ways, an extension of the values he passed down: patience, intention, and respect for the craft.
“Mallard” comes from this painting he created. It hung prominently in our home for years. A mallard rendered with remarkable precision and framed in richly figured burl wood. It wasn’t just a painting; it was an object of presence. The way it was made, framed, and displayed taught me that art doesn’t end at the image. It lives in how it’s finished, how it’s presented, and how it occupies a space.
Here, photography, art, craftsmanship, and presentation come together as a single experience. Each piece is thoughtfully produced, carefully finished, and designed to feel intentional within the spaces it inhabits.
Mac & Mallard is a tribute to where this journey began, and a continuation of the belief that when art is made with care, it gives something lasting in return.
