Our Story

Our Story

Mac & Mallard was born from memory, craft, and a lifelong appreciation for making things with care.

“Mac” comes from my father—a quiet creative who found joy in painting, photography, and woodworking. He worked with his hands and his eye, never rushing the process, always attentive to detail. Those disciplines shaped how I see the world, and they continue to influence how I approach every piece created here. This studio is, in many ways, an extension of the values he passed down: patience, intention, and respect for the craft.

“Mallard” comes from a painting he created when I was a small child. It hung prominently in our home for years—a mallard rendered with remarkable precision and framed in richly figured burl wood. It wasn’t just a painting; it was an object of presence. The way it was made, framed, and displayed taught me that art doesn’t end at the image—it lives in how it’s finished, how it’s presented, and how it occupies a space.

Here, photography, craftsmanship, and presentation come together as a single experience. Each piece is thoughtfully produced, carefully finished, and designed to feel intentional within the spaces it inhabits. These works are not meant to fill walls, but to elevate them—bringing balance, calm, and quiet depth into the home.

Mac & Mallard is a tribute to where this journey began, and a continuation of the belief that when art is made with care, it gives something lasting in return.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you based and do you travel for shoots?

We are based in Sarasota, Florida, but love to travel!

Are these original photographs?

Yes. Each photograph is part of a carefully curated collection and produced as a limited, gallery-quality piece. Every image is selected not only for its visual impact, but for how it lives within a space. None of the photos are AI generated.

Are your works limited edition?

Yes. Many pieces are released in limited editions to preserve their uniqueness and value. Edition details are listed with each artwork.

What printing materials do you use?

We use professional, archival-grade papers selected for richness, clarity, and longevity. Certain pieces are finished with high-gloss surfaces, clear acrylic overlay, and reflective backgrounds to enhance vibrancy, contrast, and depth.

Can I customize the framing or matting?

Absolutely. Many pieces can be tailored to your space with alternate frame styles, mat colors, and finishes. Customization options are available for all our works—please inquire for details.

How do I know what size is right for my space?

Each artwork page includes recommended sizing and examples shown in real interiors. If you’d like guidance, we’re happy to help you choose a size that feels intentional and well-scaled for your space.

Is this artwork meant for residential or commercial spaces?

Both. Our pieces are designed to elevate private homes, offices, and hospitality spaces alike—wherever thoughtful design and atmosphere matter.

What makes these pieces different from standard prints?

Mac & Mallard pieces are finished as complete works of art—not just prints. From archival materials and premium papers to custom matting, framing, and optional acrylic glazing, every detail is considered to create depth, presence, and longevity.

Are the artworks ready to hang?

Yes. All framed pieces arrive fully assembled and ready to hang, with professional hardware included.

How long will my order take?

Production times vary based on size and customization, but most pieces ship within 2 – 4 weeks. You’ll receive updates throughout the process.

Do you ship nationwide?

Yes. We ship throughout the United States using professional art-handling methods to ensure your piece arrives safely.

Do you work with interior designers or architects?

Yes. We welcome collaborations with designers and trade professionals. Please reach out for trade inquiries and project support.

Where does the name Mac & Mallard come from?

Mac & Mallard honors a legacy of craftsmanship and creativity. “Mac” comes from my father, who worked in painting, photography, and woodworking. “Mallard” comes from a painting he created and framed by hand—an early influence on how I understand art, detail, and presentation.

What if the artwork doesn’t feel right in my space?

We want every piece to feel like it belongs. Please review our return and exchange policy, or contact us directly—we’re happy to work with you to find the right fit.
